Privacy policy
CryptoCanucks Inc. ("we") publishes cryptocanucks.com from Toronto, Ontario. This policy is written to follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the anti-spam law (CASL). It is short because we collect little.
What we collect
- Newsletter. When you subscribe we store your email address, the time, the page you subscribed from and the country your connection came from (as reported by our hosting provider). That is all. We do not ask for your name.
- Messages you send us. The contact and advertising forms store your name, company (if given), email address, the subject you chose and your message, so we can answer you.
- Site analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, without fingerprinting and without following you to other sites. We see totals and trends, not individuals.
- Technical logs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address to deliver pages and defend against abuse. We keep a per-connection counter for one hour to limit form and signup abuse, then it expires.
We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not buy lists.
How we use it
- To send you the newsletter you asked for, and a welcome note when you sign up.
- To reply to your message.
- To understand which stories and sections readers use, in aggregate.
- To keep the site and its forms working and abuse-free.
Who else sees it
Two service providers handle data on our behalf, under their own security commitments: Cloudflare (hosting, storage of subscriber and message records, analytics) and Resend (email delivery). Both may process data outside Canada, including in the United States. Live prices on the site come from public market data feeds fetched by our server; no reader data goes to them.
Embedded videos load only after you click play, and at that point the video platform (YouTube) applies its own policy. Share links to X open X, which applies its own policy.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe any time. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and there is a form at cryptocanucks.com/unsubscribe. We keep unsubscribed addresses on a suppression list only so that we never email them again, including if someone imports a list that contains them.
- Access and correction. Ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the form on this page with the subject "Privacy request". We answer within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent. Unsubscribing withdraws consent for the newsletter. For anything else, tell us and we will stop.
How long we keep it
Subscriber records for as long as you are subscribed, then only the suppression entry. Messages until they are answered and no longer needed, and no more than two years. Aggregate analytics indefinitely, since they identify nobody.
Security
Records live in Cloudflare's encrypted storage and are reachable only through an operator token. The site is served over HTTPS only.
Children
The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date at the top changes and the newsletter says so.
